Un grupo de actores pretenden rodar la película bélica más cara de la historia. Después de que los excesivos gastos (y los descontrolados egos de los mimados actores) amenacen con acabar con la película, el frustrado director se niega a parar el rodaje y lleva a su reparto a las profundidades de las selvas del sudeste de Asia para “aumentar el realismo”. Allí se encontrarán por casualidad con unos guerrilleros de verdad y se verán obligados a convertirse en los soldados que interpretan para poder salir de la selva con vida.
